Hello and feel welcome!
───────────────────────
SCC Song is a WPS add-on that enables you easily manage your MOD, XM, MP3, MTM, DAT, SID, S3M, MID, SMF objects
Please notice the following:
────────────────────────────
DO NOT INSTALL THIS FREEWARE-NO-WARRENT PRODUCT
IF YOUR WORKSTATION IS MENT FOR SERIOUS WORK!
This program contain BUGS (that might hang or disable your workstation in the worst posible ways!!)
the RISK is YOURS!
Special note to programmers:
────────────────────────────
Please also check out: "Programmers please read me!" for additional information
Additional important notes:
───────────────────────────
This "program" has ONLY been TESTET on OS/2 Warp 4 with fixpack 4 installed (rev 9.023)
But.. It also ought to work on Warp 3.0 and higher
The information about each song is stored in the extended attributes.
This take up some space.. approx. 270 bytes PER datafile object (song file).
If the songs you are checking are located on a readonly media, like a CD-ROM.
Then the additional song info is stored in your user-ini file (normaly OS2.INI)
which lead to more memory consumption and slower system! This can be remidied
with great tools like UniMaintence from GammaTech or WPTools by Henk Kelder
Known bugs:
───────────
Memory leaks (This means that after some intensive use your swap-partition will be filled(then reboot :-))
The dialog code is also buggy.. (or is it Merlin ?)
If you find any others *please* don't hesitate (se contact information)
Reasons to install SCC Song anyway:
───────────────────────────────────
Freeware!
Utililizes some of the more unique and less ouvies features of OS/2s
It aims to enhance and ease grouping and locating song files
It is easy to uninstall
Supported song formats (Hopefully):
───────────────────────────────────
FastTracker 1.x and 2.x (MOD/XM)
MPEG Audio Layer III (MP3)
MultiTracker (MTM)
PlaySID one-file format (DAT/SID)
ProTracker (MOD)
ScreamTracker 3.x (S3M)
StarTrekker (MOD)
Standard Musical Instrument Digital Interface Format (MID/MIDI/SMF)
IMPORTANT! SCC Song only check files with the extensions shown above to the left.
If all files were to be checked it would dramaticly slow down your system even
though that the information is cached
(See the file object "SCC Song - Use Cases" for a "solution").
Planned future "enhancements" of SCC Song:
──────────────────────────────────────────
